Week Three— Treatment

  • Doctor’s suggestion (LEEP-include photos/description)

  • Holistic options

  • What worked for me

Here’s an excerpt from my thoughts after my informed refusal of the LEEP procedure.

6/6/2019 Convo with Nurse from my gynecologist’s office

PCP did Pap with HPV reflex at 30 yo they do HPV with typing. Today, I called to cancel my LEEP appointment for 6/11. Of course they wanted me to talk with the nurse about the severity of their findings, but I stood firm in my decision. She asked me if I had worked in the medical field, I said yes and assured her that I am making an informed decision. I told her that I had researched HPV extensively, and I had an aunt who passed from cervical cancer, so I get it. She gasped when she saw that I was a CIN3 (shoot, I did too) and she told me about all the women who had had uncomplicated, post LEEP pregnancies. While I do I have a bit of stress sweat going on right now, but I am confident and comfortable in my decision to wait. My fear of the side effects from LEEP outweigh any fears of these abnormal cells becoming cancerous.

Next steps: schedule an appointment with a naturopathic doc to get this holistic healing started.
